Street performers can be found all over the streets of Paris, but naturally, the bohemian village of Montmartre within Paris is home to (in my opinion) some of the most original entertainers of the city.
Many performers sing or play instruments – this is very common in the metro stations and outside flourishing cafés. But when visiting Montmartre and enjoying the sun, I saw Iya perform, which was impressive indeed.
Iya comes from Guinea, and used to play for several soccer teams in Paris, such as ESP, Paris FC and Paris Saint-Germain. He is now trying to become a professional player, but performs his tricks as an entertainer in the meantime. Iya also holds a Guinness World Record related to soccer. He also has a website you can visit to see more about him, including videos from performances in Japan and on the semi-finals of France’s Got Talent.
I filmed part of one performance in Montmartre, which you can see below. Do excuse the shaky camera, I didn’t have a tripod on me!
